Hardwood floors remain one of the most sought-after floors for their durability, style and timeless appeal. Hardwood flooring however is not the best choice for every condition. Wet areas, high humidity and heavy traffic areas with pets in the mix can wreak havoc on hardwood.

One type of flooring that is taking the market by storm and is quickly becoming the go to choice for many homeowners, landlords and real estate investors and provides exceptional sound dampening, comfort and durability. The answer is vinyl. Yes, we said vinyl.

Why Vinyl?

Vinyl flooring today is not even remotely close to the linoleum and peel and stick tile from grandma’s house. Vinyl comes in a variety of styles and the technology used to create the colors, patterns and features makes it almost indistinguishable from hardwood when looking at it.

LVT

luxury vinyl tile or LVT is the perfect type of flooring for bathrooms, kitchens, basements and laundry rooms. It can be installed anywhere in your home. You can also easily install over subfloors with minor irregularities. Better yet it is waterproof unlike laminate and hardwood. Luxury vinyl is very durable and easy to clean. They are 100% waterproof, so they won't swell, buckle or lose integrity when exposed to water. And while all LVT products are scratch, stain and wear resistant, you can choose between durability levels from light residential to commercial.

Rigid Core Options

WPC

To really make a statement and have the ability to choose from a huge selection of styles, patterns and options, rigid core vinyl is the choice for many homeowners. Rigid core flooring, also known as WPC, offers excellent resistance against dropped objects and scratches. It's also 100% waterproof, so when exposed to water the planks will not swell, deform or lose their integrity. You can put this flooring type in any room of your home. It's durable enough for the highest traffic and moisture-prone rooms. With its realistic hardwood designs it can enhance the style of living and bedrooms.

SPC

SPC flooring stands for Stone Plastic Composite. The main component is lime stone (calcium carbonate)+ PVC Powder + Stabilizer. Different from regular vinyl floor, there is no plasticiser inside, so it is more environmentally friendly. SPC flooring mainly structured with the UV Coating , abrasion resistant paper ,decorative paper film and core board.

SPC floors may not be as thick as WPC, but they are considerably denser than WPC floors. This makes them better at resisting damage from impacts or heavy weights.

WPC floors and SPC floors can both be installed in any room with moisture exposure and temperature fluctuations. When it comes to extreme temperature changes, SPC flooring offers superior performance. The denser core of SPC floors makes them even more resistant to expanding and contracting than WPC.

SPC floors are more affordable than WPC floors. However, don’t pick your floors based on price alone. Be sure to consider all the potential benefits and drawbacks between these two flooring options before choosing one.

Vinyl flooring is enjoying significant growth in the market due to its increased beauty, durability and price point. When choosing your next floor for your home or project, consider vinyl. The combination of features and benefits make it one of the best choices in providing value on the market today.
